they saw and did in the festival, and why it would be the best event ever.
Weaker candidates tend to describe the event as lots of cheap food, good
bargain, without connecting to the question why it was a successful event. They also
gave some negative opinion, which may contradict to the question "the best event".
However, in general, this question was the best attempted question among the

2. Learning English through Social Issues
Stronger candidates were able to grasp the attention of audience not only in the
introduction, and ending, but also throughout the entire writing. Some skills used
were rhetorical questions, linking it to daily news. They were also able to give
specific examples, e.g. Blue house, Victoria style, baroque style of architect, with
more specific choice of vocabulary.
Weaker candidates tend to describe it in a very general manner, more likely saying
only that it was interesting, education, yet without further elaboration.
Common error: Irregular verbs, subject verb agreements, spelling
3. Learning English through Short Stories
Students who attempted this question did not do well in general. Mostly, they
gave a very detailed description of the expository and ending, yet failing to give rising
actions which could build the atmosphere, creating suspense. Some students only
described the incident that lead to the withdrawal, misunderstanding the question
which was to write a short story.
Candidates are reminded to proofread their essay and be very careful about the
selection of vocabulary. Most of them did not give verbs or adjectives to describe the
specific action or feelings, or the variation in storyline.
Common error: Irregular verbs, subject verb agreements, spelling, wrong use of
conjunctions (e.g. overuse "therefore", "hence)
